Az \u201eelvont intellektus \u00e9s a term\u00e9szetes v\u00e1gyak kett\u0151s k\u00f6t\u00e9s\u00e9ben\u201d alkot\u00f3 walesi rendez\u0151, Aradi szerint \u201ek\u00f6vetkezetesen neglig\u00e1lja az \u00fajkelet\u0171bb mitol\u00f3gi\u00e1kat. Az \u00f6rd\u00f6gi tolvaj, a helyzetet a h\u00e1tt\u00e9rb\u0151l b\u00f6lcsen kontroll\u00e1l\u00f3 cinkos szak\u00e1cs, a hervadoz\u00f3, de mag\u00e1ra tal\u00e1l\u00f3 feles\u00e9g (Helen Mirren) \u00e9s a kifinomult, de elvont k\u00f6nyvmoly f\u00e1sults\u00e1g\u00e1ban merev szeret\u0151, mind Greenaway \u201eszerelmi horror-mesedr\u00e1m\u00e1j\u00e1nak\u201d karakterei, akik szeretnek szab\u00e1lyokat megszegni \u00e9s gy\u00f6ny\u00f6rkelt\u0151en t\u00fall\u00e9pni erk\u00f6lcseiken.
